Ortigas Land Corporation, a leading real estate developer behind some of the country’s most established retail and commercial destinations, has partnered with Mabuhay Energy Corporation (MECO) as its preferred Retail Electricity Supplier. This strategic move allows Ortigas Land to take greater control of its electricity costs while ensuring a reliable power supply across its growing portfolio of developments.
Under this collaboration, eight Ortigas Land facilities have successfully transitioned to Mabuhay Energy’s retail electricity services. These include Greenhills Shopping Center, a well-known retail and lifestyle destination; Silver City 1 and 4, mixed-use complexes combining offices, retail, and dining; Estancia Mall at Capital Commons, a lifestyle mall serving the Ortigas central business district; two Tiendesitas facilities, a retail hub that brings together local brands and dining concepts; Greenlanes, a community-centered retail development; and Transcom Ortigas, a commercial office property supporting business operations in the area. Each of these properties qualified to switch by meeting the required 500-kilowatt demand threshold over the preceding twelve months, allowing them to participate under Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA).
By switching to a Retail Electricity Supplier, Ortigas Land gains access to more competitive electricity rates and flexible contract terms compared to traditional utility arrangements. This setup allows the company to directly negotiate pricing based on actual consumption, resulting in meaningful savings and improved cost visibility. These benefits support more efficient operations while helping Ortigas Land manage energy expenses across multiple facilities with greater confidence.
Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) is a mechanism of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA), Republic Act No. 9136, that allows qualified electricity end users like Ortigas Land to freely choose and directly transact with electricity suppliers like Mabuhay Energy. Through this program, businesses are no longer limited to imposed generation rates and gain more control over how they procure electricity. As a trusted Retail Electricity Supplier, Mabuhay Energy continues to help companies make the switch with ease by delivering reliable power solutions that support long-term savings and sustainable growth.
Could your business benefit from open access?
Businesses consuming 100 kW or more have the right to choose their electricity supplier under RCOA.
